Try this,
Starting from Ubuntu 9.10: GRUB2 is shipped as the default bootloader
instead of GRUB. The file '/boot/grub/menu.lst' no longer exists, and
its replacement '/boot/grub/grub.cfg' should NOT be edited manually.
In Ubuntu 9.10, file system type has been changed from ext3 to ext4.
