I'm having the same issues, see bug: 220100. However, this bug seems to
be getting looked in to in report: 191137, its worth checking this out
and having a read.

After Hardy Kernal Install System Hangs

I've just got around to installing this again and have used acpi=off
this time, it installed without any problems, however, after a reboot I
have:
ACPI: EC: acpi_ec_wait timeout, status = 0, expect event = 1
ACPI: EC: read timeout, command = 128
I can boot in recovery and choose 'boot normally'.
Spoke too soon. I encountered the same problem again after a reboot, I
will get the camera again and try to get a shot. However, I was able to
go to recovery mode and then boot normally once given the option. Please
let me know if there is anything else I can provide from a working OS
that might he
ok, borrowed a camera, ran the install with "quiet" & "splash"... and it
worked. It installed withour a hitch. I'm using 8.04 now to write this.
I don't know if I can be of any other help regarding this, something was
certainly a problem somewhere, if there is anything I can add then
please let me

I too am having this same problem when trying to install on my Vaio. I
