And this isn't a bug, but I cannot tolerate the button being on the left
when new tabs open on the right. Is there an easy way for me to to
modify the source myself to have a text new tab button on the right?

The new tab button is the only button in the browser that still shows a
weird image instead of text even after selecting the "Text" toolbar
style in Midori's preferences. I guess it's an oversight since the
button was added later.

Importance:
It's also really silly that the forward button says "Next or Forward,"
but I can change that to whatever I want by editing the .po/.mo locale
files so I don't care.

Fixed for me by:
- Uninstall Evolution
- Uninstall UbuntuOne
- Force thunderbird 11.0.1+build1-0ubuntu2
- Reinstall Evolution
- Update to thunderbird 12...
After that thunderbird works fine... didn't understand why !?!?
