are we sure this is a network-manager thing and not a GUI thing.. My bug
appears in Knetworkmanager but if I run Kwifimanager it works just fine.

when I tried to run this from the bash prompt I got this:

worked just fine for me ... even allowed me to use my wireless card
(broadcom) for the firsttime out of the box
