This has happened to me ever since I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04. Once I
go into network-admin and add "jonolaptop-linux" to Aliases sudo seems
to work. This solution isn't permanent though.

It seems as though whenever I unplug a wireless device from my computer,
my keyboard stops working. Nothing happens except that.
Reproduction:
1. Unplug external wireless device.
2. Try keyboard. Note that it does not work.
