I'll try to provide the missing information that Sebiastian Bacher

Contrary to Richard Thomas, I have my SMB-Shares mounted via GVFSD, not
in /etc/fstab.
The following happens with my gvfs-mounted SMB-shares:
* I can delete files

I find the button labels (Yes/No) somewhat unhelpful and non-descriptive
of what they do. You have to read through the whole paragraph of text to
find out what Yes and No means.
How about calling the buttons Continue without unmounting and
Unmount. Or Don't Unmount, Unmount. Or Keep mounted,
I have permanently set the power_level to 3 with the follwing command:
sudo iwconfig wlan0 power on
This enables the power-management and sets
/sys/bus/pci/drivers/iwlagn/*/power_level to 3. Other than just echoing
a value into this file, it doesn't go back to zero by itself.

I just wanted to write about 780MB to a 800MB disc using brasero. The
disc was only recognized as 700MB by brasero, which wouldn't be a
problem. But the problem was that it wouldn't let me select to overburn
the disc, it just asked me to insert a larger disc.
It's brasero 0.8.2 in todays intrepid
Turning of the notification-sound stopped the beeping too for me (on a
HP 2510P). Thanks ThomasN :-)
There's probably an underlying problem causing the sound, which should
be solved in the long run.

Confirming, I also have this problem on a HP 2510P Laptop. Suspend and
resume works gerenally well, except for the beeping.
I will try to make some sound-recordings later this day.

Installed Hardy Alpha 5 over Gutsy, it happened then and it still
happened after I upgraded to Hardy Final.
I've successfuly used my workaround from above, and haven't seen any bad
effects so far.

I've had the same problem on my box. As a temporary fix, I changed --

I'm in the middle of my university-exams, but I'll try to test with the
Hardy Alpha3 LiveCD and with the Gutsy X86_64 LiveCD.
By the way, I am now using using the 2.6.24-386 Zen Kernel [1] because I
had some trouble waking from standby with 2.6.22-14-386. With the Zen-

I just installed linux-image-386 and the matching restricted-modules,
now this doesn't happen anymore. I han happily close and reopen the lid
multiple times withouth freezing. I have modified my /etc/acpi/lid.sh
and /etc/acpi/videobtn.sh, but this shouldn't have an influence, since
the freezes
Same here with a HP 2510p running 7.10. It doesn't happen every time I
close the lid though, only about every fourth time.
The system completely locks up and the caps lock led is on. The system
does not react to pings and open ssh-sessions break, so it isn't just X
breaking.
I also had this
Followup to the last entry: I just switched to the text-console using
ctrl-alt-F1 after booting and tried closing and opening the lid multiple
times. I got the system to freeze after a few tries (opening and closing
the lid about 10 times). I hard rebooted and tried the same thing again,
and it
