Same issue (still) with an IBM/Lenovo X60t.
Seems to be related to the wireless drivers - if I remove them before
suspend everything is ok.
wireless is iwl3945

Public bug reported:
openssh limits use of the askpass environment var to X desktops. This is
a pain because it precludes a non X askpass setup which is useful for
automation (especially where certs are not able to be used for political
or technical reasons)
The patch is very non-intrusive.
