Sorry, the second sentence in my post is cruft I forgot to delete. It
can be disregarded. Essentially, after making the change I describe,
the restricted manager came up normally.

Since this is python, the source code is included. You'll find that if
you edit the source. I think this error is generated because the code
attempts to call a function that does not exist
(DriverHandler.description(self)). The error tells us that
DriverHanlder.description is a "property" not a
Disabled JMicron controller, and things booted right up. Didn't miss a
beat with 2.6.20-9.

I'm running feisty on an Asus P5W DH Deluxe. It _has_ a JMicron JMB363
SATA controller in it, but it also has a Intel ICH7R Southbridge which
controls 3 SATA connectors on the board.
My drives are connected to the Intel ICH7R connectors, not the JMicron.
