applied the Test patch to see if LVDS is TTL, and it works - great.
Not sure what the cursor patch is supposed to do (applied it, though),
as far as I know the cursor issue only appeard with via.modeset=0 (I
have taken out the swcursor option in xorg.conf)

I bought an expensive Dell system shipping with Ubuntu, and it was the most
frustrating IT experience that I had for a long time due to it being covered by
lots of bugs (and shipping with a really old version of Ubuntu) (see
