After an update on Ubuntu, all text in chromium and google-chrome that are too
big to fit the small tab space, aren't displayied. Those hnormally are grayied
and diminished instead of using threee dots as firefox does, so the problem
probally is related to fonts.

I have the smae problem with an updated and clean install of netbook edition.
The regular gnome desktop works fine, seems like the problem is only related to
the new netbook UI, witch was what I needed to test, sadly :-(

Well, I did NOT had theis problem, until I just made and upgrade... Now I'm
getting it and worse, I can't run X at all, the Ubuntu is running in low
graphics tool is simply useless to me... :-(

I now can have both kde3 apps and kde4, so thanks.
But my kde4 icons are still messed up, like having the go icon in k-menu.

In the case of amarok, there is and alternative, so it's not big deal.
But this bug;behavior also affects k3b, that still do not have a KDE4 version.
So what a KDE (only) user should use to burn discs in Intrepid if you
can't install k3b?

Looks like some service is missing (I don't know whitch one because
synamptic does not found anything related to hpssd.

Actually I was running it from ubuntu's repositories.
But as you mentioned, I tryied to get the package directaly from the source
and compile it.
Guess what, look at this change in 2.8.4:

I have the exact same problem.
At native resolution (1400x900) my w17e widescreen LCD monitor gets a black
border on the left side.
As the original poster, using xrandr makes the screen full, but then I
can't use xgl and desktop effects because the screen isn't redrawn :-(

started to have this problem also :-(

I have the same problem.
Running Gutsy ona a HP with Intel 950 graphics card and a w17e widescreen LCD
monitor.
Happens also in KDE4, so compiz should not be blamed in this case.
Any news or fix for this?

Same here. Upgrated to edgy and flash kills firefox. I am using 24 bit color,
so that not a solution to me.
Tryed both the aprt-get installed flash plaeyr as the manually installed flash
player 9 downloaded from macromedia.
