It turned out to be BOINC and the GPU-GRID project I was running in the
background. I've resolved the issue by not running BOINC tasks that use
the GPU. This can probably be closed.

I restored my computer, reinstalled Deja Dup, reran the backup and
tested that it works (which it does now). So I don't know what went
wrong before, but perhaps at the end of the backup it should verify that
the backup actually worked?

This seems to have fixed the freezing issue. However with the version
from jaunty-proposed, the repeat sound feature seems to be broken. If I
create an alarm that's suppose to ring, it will ring once and then stop,
even if I've set it to ring multiple times. Is anyone else experiencing
that?

The bug was, as far as I could tell in alarm-clock, not some other package.

what I meant was it should be temporarily removed, since it currently
causes anyone using the alarm-clock application to have an unusable
computer as soon as they upgrade to 9.04. And that bug I referenced was
marked invalid, since the author of alarm-clock seems to be rewriting it
in C.

Ok, but for anyone who upgrades from 8.10 to 9.04 and uses alarm-clock,
their desktop will be inaccessible to them. (they will have to use
recovery mode to uninstall alarm-clock, or a virtual console to kill
it). This seems like a major problem that needs to be address *before*

evolution package and my problem seems to be fixed now, so I suspect
that this is an issue with the evolution integration plugin or the
evolution-data-server. I noticed that everytime pidgin froze the

I have been running the 2.6.28-4-generic kernel from Jaunty alpha on my
Intrepid install, and it seems to have fixed my problem. I've been using
it for the past few days and have not seen any messages about the SATA
port being frozen. I have, however, had my computer freeze up
intermittently, but

Some more info. I tried changing the SATA settings in my BIOS, and this
problem occurs whether it is set to configure SATA as IDE or AHCI, it
also continues if I use compatible mode.

Also, this is not triggered by high load. I don't know what triggers it,

Could we please have 'Allow to turn accessibility features on and off

I can confirm that this bug is *not* fixed. I can reproduce it 100% of
the time on my machine. update-manager -d causes the GUI to hang. How
do I run strace and pstree, could you point me to detailed directions?
