Further to this and my testing results at the link below, I would
strongly urge e2fsprogs be updated to v1.43-WIP once full validation of
the package is completed.
I have found another issue with filefrag on FAT filesystems.

** Summary changed
I would strongly urge e2fsprogs v1.43 be brought in sooner rather than
later.

Title:
old e2fsprogs version can corrupt fs during offline resize
Public bug reported:
Ubuntu Trusty is affected by a known issue in filefrag whereby incorrect block
numbers are reported by the -e or -v options.
I have specifically found the issue using filefrag on FAT partitions on Ubuntu
Trusty.
The bug is fixed by this commit which first appears in e2fspro
Further to this, v1.19-1 has been marked stable in Debian jessie.
Please can we get this updated?

I have found a bug in hdparm v9.43 with the --fibmap option.
For certain filesystems it returns incorrect values when compared with
filefrag, example below for vfat. Notice the factor of 8 difference between
number of extent sectors: 125092 vs 1000736.
I have reported this to Mark Lord (author) a
Public bug reported:
I came across a bug in the current version (v1.17) of gddrescue shipped with

The bug is with the ddrescuelog -z (OR) function which does not work properly.
I have sourced the solution below.

Yes, this bug is now affecting me too. 10.04 fully up-to-date on 18th
July 2013, kernel ver 2.6.32-49.
The problem is not really a crash, but a hang that sometimes recovers.
I managed to grab a gdb trace when it hung, but don't have debug symbols
for most things.
Hope this helps!

This bug also coincides with the "Used" count given by lsmod against the

I have also tried forcing the ahci module to be loaded before others (by

Okay I have more news having spent most of the day trying to at least
figure out where this bug was introduced!
It appears to be introduced in linux kernel version 2.6.37:
- Everything before this (version 2.6.36.4 and backwards) works on Ubuntu
11.04, 10.10 and 10.04
- Everything after this (v
This is my fault and not the package.
I had changed the folder /usr/lib/xulrunner to a symlink to
/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.
Upon removal of the previous release it broke the link.
I have now changed the link to point to the current release and the bug
is fixed.
Can the xulrunner package be changed
