then settings in startup and recovery ,.
there u can change which OS should be the default one...

Well, I think you gave you a little wrong information. On reboot, it
actually closes all programs and then the ubuntu logo with the progress
bar comes up before shutting down. The progress bar moves to the right
and when it reaches the end , it gets stuck. So its getting stuck even
before shutting
It happens always on every reboot.
On reboot, the ubuntu logo comes up and the progress bar is seen ..and
then gets stuck at that point. Happens always at that point.

Sometime back, I updated my machine with the latest updates. Rebooted
the computer, still getting stuck on reboot. had to do a cold shutdown
and then power ON.

It started if I am right couple of days back. I installed ubuntu 8.04
in a new dell 330 Desktop machine. Before doing any updates, I dont
think there was a problem with the reboot. Then I installed the updates
using the update manager. And this probably triggered the reboot
problem.

Did not have this issue on dapper. Looks like it has popped up in edgy.
This is very annoying when downloading streaming media or browsing AJAX
based websites.
