My latest workaround is to run from the command-line, in a fresh terminal: unset DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS sudo usb-creator-gtk --allow-system-internal This provided a working boot media for me after several repeat runs hitting the bug in this thread. I am using bash shell (Ubuntu's
