basic-256 was updated before 0.9.6w (2010-07-25) to use UTF8 strings on
stack rather than 8 bit ASCII.

BASIC-256 0.9.2 is very out of date. The current version 0.9.6.27 runs
very well under 10.04 and 9.10. There are many other fixes and changes.
