The problem is that log10(100) is parsed as log (10(100)) = log(1000) = 3.
Just "log" already stands for "logarithm to base 10".
I'm running gcalctool 6.2.0, and I have the same issue.

The install process should add wicd to the whitelist, silently or by
asking the permission to the user.

This is not a wicd issue.
In order to show the wicd indicator, you should first put wicd in the unity
systray panel whitelist.
