i am facing the same problem when i try to install kubuntu 14.10. after setup
the installation layout (english, username, pass, timezone, etc), ubiqiuty does
noting to the HDD and keeps the CPU to 50% for unlimited time (i guess).

hello!
back in my days of 13.10, after some reinstalls, i managed to connect to all my
acconts, yahoo, gmail, facebook.
now, in 14.04, i have had problems with gmail, it tried to connect but after
awile, it requires authorization.
in this moment, it seems that it work okay. but for how long?

i think you have a serious problem with integration of empathy and online
account packege in ubuntu.
so, to be able to connect to my facebook account, i had to remove the ubuntu
online accounts by running command:
sudo apt-get purge gnome-control-center-signon
here we are in january 2014 and the bug is still live and well.
killing the gvfsd-http plays the stream right away.
i am very sad!

i just took my chance and installed all those 6 packeges.
i can tell that it works. now, the network manager applet shows right
characters for CDMA network.
i even connected and disconnected multiple times to see that nm-applet is
crashing, it does not!

sometimes it is happening to me too, i mean, the time and date applet just does
not start, it does not show at all.
the solution is to restart lightdm sudo restart lightdm..sometimes you
need to try several times to show.

i installed unity tweak tools and click search and deactivate background
blur.
that solved the issuebut the bug remains and unity tweak tools is not
installed by default nor supported by canonical.

disappears. it reappears if i logout and log back in.

i just tasted the 3.8 kernel but it not works at all. it boots but the unity
desktop is useless, i cant click on any icon, so i cant test the s-video at all!
i want to test the kernel 2.6.34 from lucid, is it possible?
just to say that on saturday and sunday the s-video worked quite well, but
