I did another update today and MANY packages were upgraded, and
behaviour seems better. No Compiz errors yet.

compiz crashed with SIGABRT
In my case, I did the following:
- download/install VirtualBox 4.0.4 from
http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
- download BETA 1 image of Ubuntu 11.04
- create VirtualBox virtual machine with 3D Acceleration enabled
- install Ubuntu 11.04 BETA 1 in VirtualBox; reboot virtual machine
- update

Same problems here-- I have an M1300 which displays the same ACPI
problems Jerry describes. Brightness control is broken, and I can't
shut down via software (it eventually hangs during shutdown and I have
to manual hit the power switch to shut down).

Computer won't boot without acpi=off optio
I have an HP Mini 1110NR and manually installing alsa-1.0.19 fixes the
speaker sound problem perfectly.
This was applied to a fresh install of Ubuntu NBR 9.04 (not sure what
kernel and other packages that entails as of April 26, 2009).
Anyone know when Canonical is likely to push out an official

I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 7.10 from 7.04 and the version of liboil
that was installed as part of the upgrade (liboil 0.3.12-1) is broken on
my G3 PPC iBook. Symptoms include Gnome-Settings-Daemon failing to
launch properly at login due to an inability to load GStreamer.
