Updated the kernel, tried:
lshw | grep radeon
which ran successfully with no kernel crashes. However, when I ran the
same under sudo:
sudo lshw | grep radeon
had a kernel crash, then it locked up my OS requiring a hard reset.

I did use Vi to manipulate the file, which itself creates a full,
temporary copy of the file while the file is being edited. However, it
would be nice if gedit had some provision to deal with large files.

Thank you for addressing this bug. My bugs are not jokes, otherwise I
would not post them! ;) As well, the amount of RAM I have and the amount
of free space I have on my hard disk drive (both more than the size of
