It seems mplayer can't find the correct fps. So either it's a bug in
mplayer or maybe the video is corrupted.
gnomeplayer is also a frontend for mplayer, so that's why it's also
affected by the problem.

I've just compiled the latest svn (35369) and -fontconfig is still working.
For mplayer2, yes they removed that option some months ago, and now
smplayer (from svn r4683) doesn't use -fontconfig with mplayer2.
So the problem in smplayer is fixed, but
I don't use a dual monitor either, but I do have Composite disabled. If
I enable Composite the problem doesn't happen.

11.10. When using a cache, mplayer reports a huge number of chapters:

The -stop-screensaver option may not work. According to the mplayer
manpage, it's a problem of the screensavers:
-stop-xscreensaver (X11 only)
Turns off xscreensaver at startup and turns it on again on exit.

the mplayer package. That patch tries to avoid the screensaver to turn
on by moving the mouse cursor from time to time. smplayer receives that
mouse event and shows the cursor because it thinks it has been moved by

but smplayer did set a cache on previous versions. Now from 0.6.9 it
doesn't, so it should also be able to play the file ok out of the box
(with an empty config file).

The only thing that smplayer does when the option disable screensaver
is checked, is to pass the option -stop-xscreensaver to mplayer.
So check if -stop-xscreensaver is really passed to mplayer (you can see
it in the mplayer log: Options - View logs). If that option is not
passed then it's a bug

Actually there's no default audio driver in smplayer. It just gets as
default the audio driver that mplayer uses the first time that smplayer
runs it.

The version of mplayer included in ubuntu just simply doesn't have the
scaletempo filter, it was added some weeks after 1.0rc2 was released.
On the other hand smplayer is ready to use that filter (but I think it
won't try to use it by default). I think it's not a
MPlayer 1.0rc2 doesn't have the scaletempo filter.
