OK, got it working... not sure if this is actually a bug or due to 3rd
party vendor's driver...
I have a Samsung ML-2010 Laser printer, and Samsung does provide a
driver for their printer. Here's what I did to get this working:
1) via CUPs web admin, I deleted the defined printer.
2) I re-instal

I've all but given up on using adept, now I only use apt-get for all my
upgrades. adept has caused me to rebuild my system one too many times.
This is my 3rd rebuild due to adept.

Yes, you're correct, everything would be correct, it was from my
restored system. The problem did occur when I upgraded. I've since had
to do a complete rebuild, and now everything looks just fine. I'm not
able to reproduce the problem.

After allowing Adept upgrade my system yesterday, my Samsung ML-2010
printer no longer worked. Upon further investigation, the files
/usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp and /usr/lib/cups/backend/httpd are missing,
and if I try and add a new printer, I no longer am presented with the

I too experienced something very similar. I had selected to remove
cupsys-common because of problems that were created after my last
upgrade. When I clicked the button to remove, a ton of KDE packages
were removed without so much as any confirmation. WOW... left me with a
TOTALLY useless kubuntu
