I tried the same and the touchpad is not recognized for me as well.
Would be really nice to get a fix here.
Furthermore, audio is not working either.
Is it working for you after a fresh install?

I can confirm that applying the patch from #30 in 18.04 does seem to fix
the problem when using WH-1000XM3.
