sleep.sh is suspend to RAM
hibernate.sh is suspend to Disk
I've had no problems with either, but I do miss my buttons.
Also, if you have a laptop and right click on the power meter (Kubuntu)
there are options for suspend hibernate there, but I haven't tried
these.

X still crashes with desktop effects turned on now that Kubuntu 8.10 final has
been released. The release notes mentioned:
Hangs with desktop effects on Intel 830MG and 845G video cards
There is a bug in the Intel video driver for the older intel 830 and 845
integrated video cards that are used

I had thought this was related to bug 277709/282855 , but the released
fix did not solve my issue. If I turn on desktop effects in KDE4 w/
OpenGL compositing type, X will crash fairly quickly. XRender does not
cause the same crash, but the effects are no where near as
