fwiw neither rhythmbox nor quodlibet (both libgstreamer based) crash when
attempting to play this file. the nightly build of banshee does crash.
in addition i can pass the file directly to gstreamer and it plays a load of
digital noise but does not crash:

here is another sequence
if i log in with the modem attached to the computer nm-applet crashes until i
remove the modem and start nm-applet by hand. (i'm filing a seperate bug with
gnome about this).
then it prompts me for the PIN, the first time i enter it and press return
nothing

there are two files - one includes the other in a section.
here's a version of the containing file. i had to remove a large amount of
personally identifying information but the part that triggered the bug is still
present - included section at the end.

I have imported a couple of thousand photos into shotwell.
Currently I am including various photos into a document I am writing. At the
moment the process for doing this is cumbersome - I have to use shotwell
i'm still seeing a segfault when using gtkmozembed - i'm not sure if it's the
same bug - the backtrace looks different.
let me know if it looks sufficiently different to warrant a new bug.
