I upgrade linux kernel to 2.6.14, but there is same problem.
I use another kernel to install ati driver, but this time I cannot use
compiz (After login, white screen).

I think maybe X and Graphic card driver are mismatch or driver's bug.

If use another version kernel to install fglrx driver, it works.

Yes. I encountered the same problem, and I uninstalled crossfade plugin. It
works.
In repository the package is bad. Maybe should rebuild or remove it, or many
people will have trouble.
Please fix it as soon as possible.
