If anyone at the Kernel Team reads this, could they please expand on the
comment cpufreq: it's hard to do in userspace?
If I compile the current kernel myself, with just the one difference in
which acpi-cpufreq is a module, everything works perfectly. Just check
PPA for linux-phc if you don't

I have the same issue on Maverick. However, the new behavior is more complex
than previous versions.
Instead of always matching (or searching, or whatever it is called) by the

since you were sorting by album, it was
@ Dana Goyette
Even if that's possible, I don't think it's a good idea. The whole module
architecture was made specifically for the case of loading and unloading them,
and it's not good to have another way of basically doing the same thing.

I knew there had to be some easy command like that.. but I guess i proved that
linux allows people to do stuff in a multitude of ways. Anyway, thanks!

@ Rex
I made a (very ugly) hack to do just that.
What i did was to create a file that represents what (keys) should be inputed
to alsamixer and then using a script to redirect that to alsamixer. Both files
are attached below.
Then, I ran the script in a terminal at startup. To do that, go to

Are you talking about mine? Wrong in what way?
It has to be run in a terminal (not just ./alsaconf) . Other than that, it
works on my computer.

I think it is more of a hack than a patch. The hack only works well on
version 2.4.1 of the driver and, as i understand, prevents output from
turning on/off endlessly. But if i am wrong please post a link to the
new patch.

Hei guys!
Good news, someone found a fix. It has just been discovered so it will take
some time until we get un upstream fix. Until then, if you manage to edit some
file and compile/install from source you're done.

I'm experiencing the same problem with a sony vaio VGN-FW140E. I tried Hardy,
Intrepid (alpha's, beta's, official release), fedora 9, and many intel drivers
up to 2.4.2 and with many kernel's until 2.6.27. I really think this issue
relates only to the
