same here seems to be the frame buffer doesn't work correctly. I boot only by
setting the kernel options "nomodeset nosplash" then switch via alt+ctrl+F7 to
a terminal where I can put my crypto passphrase. To get to the grub menu press
ESC fast when starting the laptop.

Same here Karmic is unusable at least with a X-Server. It freezes after

I'm having the same problems since an update for the jaunty xserver intel
driver. After changing to karmic my desktop still freezes, although I can still
move the mouse.

Skype with Ubuntu Jaunty is unusable at the moment. Initiating a call leads to
