@William Pabon thanks for your hint but it didn't work for me.
In fact I was messing up here. I had a custom.cfg in
/boot/grub that overruled all my settings from /etc/default/grub. So, after
modifying this
file everything works now!

I just tried your packages but unfortunately they did not work for me. I
previously uninstalled both cnijfilter-mp630series_3.00-1_i386.deb
cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb and unplugged and removed the printer
from the printer configuration. After installing both of your packages

Yes I still have the same behaviour in the final and it renders oocalc
useless with the openoffice.org-kde package installed. Additionaly the
text in some menus is cut in half.As far as I observed the package was
not updated during the transition to the final release.
