Sorry. My above solution doesn't include silverlight 4. Note. I had
several email regarding moonlight not working at all. Not even v1. The
above post fixed version 1 and 2 viewing problems.

This bug did affect me. Solution for me after some googling with no
hints at all I found this while debugging.
Totem player refused to connect to stream from any silverlight sites.
After purging totem with apt I installed mplayer, and gecko-mediaplayer,
