I can confirm that this bug also affect Ubuntu 14.04.

I confirm this bug.
I did a Mageia 1 installation and after an Ubuntu 11.04.
Both fully updated.
Grub2, installed with Ubuntu 11.04, didn't detect correctly Mageia and the
result is a Kernel Panic try to boot.
The error is in the (hdx,y).

Please note that I am using ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 and the bug is still present.
I have a Wacom Pen 6 Touch (CTH-461).
When I plug in, I see in the dmesg only:
[16936.330110] usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4
[16936.561394] usb 4-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
e main MBR and install grub on the sda8 or sda7
partition I see always sda. Never sda8 or sda7. I don't know if the selection
has been made.
