Last release (10.10) we waited around 2 months for AaronP and Alberto Milone
could come up with good packages.
(Don't get me wrong. These guys are doing a fantastic job!)
It now seems as this history will repeat itself.
Is there any suggestions on how the community can contribute

Have tested proposed as outlined in post #137. No issues at all with
installation.
Driver works well and I even got my old bugs with non-working Suspend and
Hibernate back ;-)

Was not present on 9.04 (to my memory). Definetively an error in 9.10 but fixed.

I have the same issue on a AMD64 machine. Am running Nouveau video driver as
the Nvidia 96 is not yet available.
I installed the Meerkat beta on day 1 and the applet worked then. Something
'broke' it in regression.
Fascinating is also that the preferences (see screenshots) seem to have no
affect
Mirror synchronization might have been a bit slow. This morning the upgrade
went through and hence no bug.
(Now I just stuck with a machine without a working video driver as I use nVidia
96 :-) )

My salutations to Alberto Milone!
Package nvidia-graphics-drivers-96 (96.43.14-0ubuntu13) sorted my laptop.
I updated Xorg and some more packages through Synaptics so first restart
stopped at new fuzzy Ubuntu screen with the 5 dots (could be something with the
new .20 kernel did not exist for amd
