ambiance theme not loaded
To mana
Reinstalling brought no change. I do have a few things from ppa, but
nothing that should be connected with this. Only thing that comes to my
mind is that I experimented with myunity. That might have upset
something.
I'm attaching the file mentioned in the error message just in case.

It seems I cannot activate the ambiance theme. It seems to fall back to
radiance or whatever theme was previously active. This problem also
occurs for a new user account. I get the following line in .xsesssion-
errors:
Window manager warning: Failed to load theme "Ambiance":
I can confirm this. It happens when the panel is at the right, not at the
bottom. The layout changes between one-column and two-column layout whenever
certain windows are activated or when I click on the panel. It's especially
annoying because it's often not possible to click on a task button in

provides. Anyway, you can close this bug if you want. I think I'm fine
now.

I tried the workaround but all I got was a flashing text screen. Karmic
doesn't use the xorg.conf file any more and if I create one in /etc/X11/
I get the flashing problem.

Sorry, I don't have the information. I was able to solve the problem by
doing a standard install from DVD. The trackpad issue occurred from
using the Upgrade option on the upgrade manager.
