I have no idea, because I use Edgy now, however, I doubt its a general
KDE bug because it is not p[resent to the best of my knowledge in Edgy.

The problem seems to have gone away of its own volition (it wasn't even
soon after i did an upgrade, I just thought I'd try again), so I'm
closing this bug. Interestingly, sudo nvidia-glx-config enable did
nothing, telling me that the nvidia driver couldn't be found, but
changing my xorg.conf
Also, nobody else seems to be having this problem, that I can find, I
checked.

ctrl+alt+del doesn't reboot for me. Should it? I use Kubuntu and it just
enters the screen which asks me if I want to shut down, go into standby,
etc.

this problem has most definitely not gone away. I just tried to use the
nvidia driver again, and again failed.

actually, ctrl+alt+backspace restarts X and I did mean reboot. Also, I
already tried reinstalling all the drivers, and everything is already
up-to-date.

restart or shut down in several days, instead I just go into hibernate.
I'll try it tonight.

X doesn't work if it is installed at all. It is a fully updated version
of edgy. I have no idea what was actually broken, but after installing
nvidia-glx it stopped working. I figured out how to get the tty shells
working though, if I hit the esc key it started working for some reason.
Very odd.
Sorry. I did mean sudo nvidia-glx-config enable. I wropte this last
night when I was just about to go to sleep ;). I have all those packages
installed and the latest version of usplash. I didn't install the linux-
restricted modules manually though, maybe that was the problem.

I am using kubuntu amd64 and when I press on the shutdown or restart

I actually said that i dont' knwo which package is causing the problem,

It is a clean install, on an amd64 machine. I am using the latest
amd64-generic kernel (2.6.17-7 I think). The TTY's don't have anything,
just when I try to switch between them nothing happens. TTY7 (the one
where X should work) just has a blinking cursor. I do have X. The system
