I seem to have the same bug on my system on Ubuntu 10.10 amd64.
Unfortunately I cannot remove gcu-plugin as it is not installed. I am
not really sure about the implications as acroread and flash are happily
working. Only thing is that the error messages are a bit annoying each
time I use apt or apt
I updated to Ubuntu 10.10 two weeks ago and today the issue appeared
again. I use suspend to ram about every day and it did'nt happen up to
now, but today it suddenly did. It's not the worst bug as it happens
very rarely but it is a bit annoying as the only way I found to fix it

Snam, going back to the older vmware-player-kernel-modules-2.6.15-29
(2.6.15.11-12) would work, but that's disappeared from the archives
already so unless you have an old copy somewhere, it's not possible.
What I did was remove vmware-player and install it from a tarball
