I am having the same problem and after blowing nearly 400 dollars of my
allowance on networking gear and bankrupting myself in the process only
to find out that linux is a turd when it comes to file sharing is really
ticking me off!
Fuck linux it's a bullshit os for wieners!

have you tried: sudo /etc/init.d/samba start? This is not meant for a
production server we're only in Alpha 2. I have to issue the previous
command in order for my laptop to be seen by my other computers. the
bookmark idea was to see other computers. I hope this helps.

Intrepid. I discovered I could put a line in /etc/modules that read, snd-es18xx.
It worked fine til Jaunty, then it worked except the login sound. After
my most recent update, it don'

added snd-es18xx. sound works fine now.

I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and I go tp places| network and see my
windows box, I click on it and it says 0 folders found in the status
bar. I can see all my shared drives in Ubuntu 7.10, and can access my
8.04 drives from Windows, I use Window
The last instructions I received were a little cryptic. I'm a former DOS
& Windows guru, but when it comes to Linux, I'm a newby. if I could
recieve more detailed instructions I would appreciate it.
