malfunctioning apart from the error message, though.

This bug affects me, too.
Unchecking a checkbox in CompizConfig Settings Manager makes the Unity
panel disappear. It may turn black or various kinds of things. I've made
some screenshots:

My desktop PC also shows this bug. (No battery power there.) I'm using
the proprietary NVIDIA driver, too.

The bug is still there in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx / compiz Version:
1:0.8.4-0ubuntu15.
Apparently, Shift Switcher recognizes the arrow key twice: as next
window key binding, and as navigation key when running.
What I do now is either using the Initiate Shift Switcher key binding
plus arrow keys p
I do have this problem, too. Ubuntu 10.04, Compiz 0.8.4.
This problem is mentioned in several other bug reports about more
specific cases (usually the Update Manager), see below.
But it's a general problem. Mind the security impact!

Application windows open on the desktop currently viewed at, not on the
destop they were started on.
Example: I start Firefox, then I change the desktop. Firefox pops up on
