Thanks. First of all, the "blacklist usblp" only seemed to have an
effect on some type of printings. Photos with high quality settings
still failed when printing over network to my ubuntu print server (32bit
by the way). Data size problem?

The update seemed to have a newer cups-version in the main feed than in
Till's ppa.
Adding "blacklist usblp" in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf solves it (as
a workaround, inspired by 997040).

Well in my post #23, I've written that the bug occurs with the nvidia-
driver as well as with the nv and nouveau one, so it cannot be the
nvidia-driver.
However, I recently upgraded to Karmic and the error is gone. Using the
default recommended nvidia driver 185 there.

I have the same problem with an NVidia on-board chipset GeForce 6150
(Asus N2NPV-VM, latest bios 1401) since upgrading to Ubuntu 9.04 amd64.
The problem is apparent, regardless of the used xorg-driver (have xorg-
edgers in my apt-sources and tried everything: nouveau, nvidia 180, 173,
96 and even
The problem related to kmediafactory has been resolved and was caused by
missing locale switches in the sense that a comma separating elements of
a 2D coordinate has been interpreted as a decimal point.
