That was 6 months ago. It fell off my radar long ago and is no longer a
problem. About it not being an ubuntu specific issue, all I know is when I
click on help>report a problem in ffx it sends me to you.

Firefox frequently loses connection to gmail chat. Reloading the page
does not fix it. Clearing the browser cache and then reloading the page
does.
