I was having the same issue I solved it by running "killall pulseaudio"
in the commandline, then installing timidity using "sudo apt-get install
timidity". Timidity should then install properly with no errors.

adjustment is not working properly with my USB headset. If I try to
adjust the volume with the Volume Applet (with my mouse) it does the
