I haven't re-tested the problem in a while, but I know it is still there if I
do certain things, and the solution is still to kill the screensaver
Sorry to be vague, but I don't remember what at present, 'cos I'm mostly not
using the GUI.
What do I need to do ?

After I hibernate my ubuntu machine I cannot log back in to the X session.
A dialog comes up offering : switch user/cancel/unlock. If I attempt unlock,
it fails returns to the same dialog.
Logging in on a vterm (Ctrl-Alt-F1)
