Bug persists on elementaryOS freya beta1 (ubuntu based) on an acer c720 chromebook. Workaround is to execute the following script: #!/bin/sh sudo service network-manager stop sudo ifconfig wlan0 down sudo macchanger -a wlan0 sudo ifconfig wlan0 up sudo service network-manager start
