So looking at this, it seems to bomb out when trying to launch a defined
domain Obviously it doesnt seem to see the qemu-kvm module despite:

I even did a reinstall of kvm via:
$ sudo apt -y --reinstall install qemu-kvm
Did my latest upgrade screw up my libraries??? I just noticed I am on
the dev branch of 18.04 dunno if I can roll back.

This bug is driving me crazy!! Makes it scary to reboot... Sometimes
when you reboot, the system gets stuck meaning you have to do a hardware
reboot (battery pull) and forcing a fsck.
