Same here, when running update manager for Karmic.

package libjaxp1.3-java 1.3.04-3ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: trying to
overwrite '/usr/share/java/xml-apis.jar', which is also in package
Neither of these fixed it for me (even with logout or reboot):
remove/rename ~/.local/share/mime/
update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime/
But this did fix it:
remove/rename /usr/local/share/mime

gThumb do not show any pictures in directories, although the fact that they are
there. But
BTW, I have GoogleEarth installed, but I haven't run it in months, and
gThumb has always worked before after I've run GoogleEarth.
gThumb broke after I upgraded to Karmic beta a couple of weeks ago.
