Just an update for me. I couldn't even boot up Ubuntu without it locking
up on me before it even got to the Logon Screen.
I disabled the JMicron controller and AIPC in the BIOS and now
everything is running fine. No lockups yet, though I'm just trying to
figure Linux.

I can easily beat that. For one, I've brand new to Linux. I've tried
7.10 and now 8.04. Both locked up with the standard install. And I'm
talking before it was even at the point of picking which hard drive to
