Actually the problem was with the Ram.
I removed the newer stick that I purchased some time ago and ran the
installer again...No PROBLEM.
The ram check indicated that both sticks were ok... hm
I tried many times different distros then I did the ram thingremove
one
I too have a Dell 700m, NO compiz,
I tried the uninstalling via Synaptic but no help...Still no Compiz
effects...
Did a compiz --replace and got this:

Dell 700m no compiz Maverick
Did a Compiz check got this:

Yes, thanks very much...this worked for my Fujitsu 80gig drive. Works

I have a Fujitu 80 external usb drive and I too am having the same problems as
everyone. High cpu usage, lsusb see's the drive but nothing elseLooking for
some ideas

I worked it out ok by changing the hdc to sdc0 in the fstab conf. file.
All is GREAT now.

Thanks for the update. Everything is ok now, I went
into the folder with the deb file and reinstalled from
there and now all is fine. The Driver shows now on the
drop down list is HP's software.
Thanks Feisty is a great OS!

I went into the folder where the deb file for HP 1.7.2 was and executed it and
lo and behold the driver was installed correctly and now the printer and
scanner work fine.

The correct driver is not recognized and loaded. It is in Edgy but not in
Feisty.

When I click on the properties tab on the HP c3180 and then the driver tab.
Edgy lists the correct driver but not Feisty.
Feisty has the latest hplip 1.7.3 software installed.
