Ok. So I finally found a viable workaround (or fix). In BIOS the GPU
must be set to "Hybrid Graphics" NOT "Discrete".
This fixed my issues with running nvdia-drivers and using my touchpad at
the same time in ubuntu 20.04.

Ahh. Actually xinput now (with kubuntu-desktop installed) now has
registered my touchpad as a standard mouse it seems (I don't have
multitouch functionality, so no two-finger scrolling, etc).

I though I might experiment a little. I installed xubuntu-desktop with the
lightdm display manager. Didn't work either. Then I installed kubuntu-desktop
with sddm display manger and the suddenly my touchpad started working.
I then did a dpkg-reconfigure gdm3, rebooted and logged back into the
Hi D.
Can you try uninstalling the nvidia-drivers from the "Additional
Drivers" interface, just by choosing the nouveau drivers. Then reboot.
Does the touchpad work now?
Then you might have a similar issue as I do on the P50:
I just tested installing the Nvidia binaries directly from the web-site. That
did not fix the issue with the non-functional touchpad either.

I too had nvidia propiertary drivers installed:

Of course, it could be argued, that ubuntu-release-upgrader should double check
if linux-image-generic is installed.

Restart was removed from system-menu. Clicking shutdown reveals the
choice to either restart or shut down. That makes sense.

I can confirm the but in the ubuntu 11.04 package build.
Everything seems to be fine, modules loaded and stuff. But I can't find the
hdspmixer.
Normally it's included in the alsa-tools and alsa-tools-gui packages. And
actually the mixer GUI does get an entry in the menu. But there is no command
Ok. So we have the same problem, software-versions, and network-adator, but it
seems we have different symptoms.
I get a practically non-working connection when signal-strength drops below
around 80%. Maybe it's not the same problem after all.

Works ok with 100% signal but when signal drops below 80% network traffic stops
or connection simply drops.

My experience with the ar5001 is that connection has a tendency to drop
when wifi-signal-strength gets below approximately 80%. Do you have the
same experience?
By the way. It is not fixed in 10.10 beta.

Sorry. Forget what I just said about the later version of network
manager. The version in maverick beta that I tested IS already version
0.8.1, so that doesn't seem to fix anything.
In the meantime I also tried substituting network-manager for wicd.
Changing to wicd unfortunately doesn't solve
If it is related to this (which I think it is), I have tested on maverick beta.
And it still has the same issue.

I can verify this bug. I've tried the usb-creator in lucid and
unetbootin 408-1ubuntu0.10.04.1. None of them works for me though with
the usb-stick made with unetbootin I do get at litlle further. I takes
me into busybox.

Maverick images build on lucid fail to boot - different syslinux
I can still make it drop out even with the workaround, but I have to really
make an effort. But then it drops in windows as well. To much
travelling/zooming in google maps makes it drop out for example (ubuntu win7).
But it is more or less stable with the workaround.
