I just tested out hibernate half a dozen times with 8.10, and it seems

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.

This certainly doesn't looks like a gnome-power-manager issue but a
kernel one instead, since it was refused upstream i'm closing it here to
concentrate in the package which seems like the real culprit.

the keys were dead. But pressing the power button (and not holding
it down as for a reboot) powered the computer on. I did get the
It would appear that it is somehow linked to the wireless networking
stuff (wifi). When I am using the wifi, the laptop is never able to
sleep. When the wifi is disabled (hardware switch) and I am using the
ethernet network, sleep works fine. Bug is still present in
2.6.20-16-generic.

I'm inclined to believe this is a kernel problem too, considering the

Hibernate fails on Compal CL56 and Toshiba L30-134, locks up keyboard completely
Workaround:
sudo hibernate
This indicates that the error has nothing to do with the kernel, but can
be found within GNOME. Has anyone tried with KDE or XFce4?
