** Description changed:
When turning on my desktop I expect to wait from 25 to 30 seconds until
the login screen appears.
But I have to wait more than 100 seconds until the login screen appears
(look at the bootchart attachment).
- Is there any I can do to improve the boot time?
+
A fix was never found so there is nothing to release. The problem
simply went away on its own.

To
Stefan Pappalardo, given how Saucy improves the boot time by ~50%,

Title:
upstart needs more than 100
Hello Christopher M. Penalver, I tested it with the latest development
release. System was up in about 45 seconds.
The 12.04 installation needs about 90 seconds to boot up (look at
bootchart in the attachment for details).
If there is something I can test. Only ask ;-)

Stefan Pappalardo, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
I tested with witch kernel v3.7-rc6. The problem persists and the boot
time increased to about 140 seconds.

Your bootchart implies that there's a driver being loaded that takes
over 20 seconds for modprobe to return. Reassigning this to the kernel.
You'll want to attach your dmesg logs so the kernel developers can see
what driver is to blame.
