Nothing to do with power management since the PC is running when the WiFi
connection is dropped.

It is possible that the issue is to do with the wireless router but I
have no clear way to know if this is the case. If only there was a way
to easily find out.

Used a different PC that is using the Intel wireless chipset and
encountered exactly the same problem. Somehow I don't think that the
issue is related to the wireless USB adapter.

Considering that the antenna is internal to the wireless USB adapter I
highly doubt that is the issue. Could have a look to see if the USB
connection is a bit loose. Might try connecting the adapter to a front
USB port to see if that makes any difference.
