Alex Moldovan, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from

Update:
After using the drives under Oneiric which shows that only 196M are used on the
EXT4 drive , I still can't copy over ~29GB of data from the NTFS drive to the
EXT4 drive. No space left.

There's something going on in Precise kernel and up because I have re-
formated the drive in Lucid, Maverick, Natty and Oneiric and they all
show the same results but very different from Precise and Quantal:
>From Lucid to Oneiric:
### df -h
/dev/sdb11953512444 1836062180 117450264 94
Did you happen to see this extra space being used in prior releases as
well? If not, it would be good for us to figure out what kernel
introduced this.

I've installed the v3.5-rc1-quantal kernel and then re-formatted the
drive using the following command:
$ sudo mkfs -t ext4 -m 0 -O dir_index,filetype,sparse_super /dev/sdc1
The results look the same to me. see the attached '3.5-rc1-quantal.txt'
file with more information.

Hi Alex,
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.5kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the
linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.
